Inclusion
As a school we are committed to giving every child an opportunity to achieve their full potential regardless of their age, gender, ethnicity, attainment or background. We recognise that there is a diverse range of additional needs in relation to learning, health, behaviour, emotions and physical ability.
We support pupils who are Gifted and Talented (G&T) and those who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and recognise that they may need specific provision. We support Children Looked After (CLA) and other children who may have barriers to their learning, by offering pastoral care and support. We understand that the need to learn English is not a Special Educational Need in itself, but recognise that pupils, for whom English is an Additional Language (EAL), may have additional needs, which must be supported in order to enable them to access the curriculum. Diversity is valued as a rich resource, which supports the learning of all. In this school, inclusion recognises a child’s right to a broad, balanced, relevant and challenging curriculum, which is appropriate to their individual abilities, talents, and personal qualities.
